Challenge #36: Uncut Paper

Hello Users!!

We are back with another challenge, asking you to dig into your stash and USE IT UP (on Tuesday). Today, we've got a great challenge that every paper crafter should be more than capable of participating in. We want you to use your UNCUT PAPER.

Pull out those favorite pieces that you can't bear to part with. Or maybe challenge yourself to use that piece of ugly paper that sits alone on the shelf. We can't wait to see it!

***REMEMBER: All of our challenges call for you to use your hoarded supplies!
A challenge requirement is to tell us in your post what you used!***

Please link your creation using Inlinkz by Friday August 3th. No blog? No problem! Just use keyword USE036 when uploading to an online gallery and leave us a direct link so we can find your creation. (Linking tips are at the bottom of the post!)

Please make sure to mention you are playing along with a Use It Tuesday challenge (a link is great too!) so we know you are participating.

As always, we will invite one lucky participant, randomly chosen, to be a featured as a guest designer in an upcoming challenge!

Before we start, here is a little inspiration from our fresh cut Design Team:

Caroli brightened our world with this adorable layout using Bella Blvd paper that she bought months ago and couldn't bear to cut into. Don't worry, Caroli, I'll bet the paper is very happy to be included in such a gorgeous creation!

Haven wasn't sure what to do with this beautiful paper sitting in her stash. So, she pulled it and a handful of other elements out of her craft room to create this beautiful tribute.

Marjolaine took almost two years to decide which gorgeous side of these double sided papers to use. Check out her blog for more pictures of this super cute mini album. (Psst! The letters and gems were also from her stash).

What do you get when you pair hoarded paper, ribbons waiting for a special occasion and infrequently used inks? This gorgeous Christmas card by Cathy.

Danielle hoarded an idea, three canvases and some Bo Bunny paper, waiting for the time to perfect this Love, Laugh, Live canvas for her living room wall. Beautiful!!

Tammy loves to collect and hoard Basic Grey papers (any and all of them) and used her Kioshi pattern for this adorable tote. You MUST head on over to her blog and check out the gorgeous cards inside the tote.

Heather remembers buying this paper for a project idea when she first started paper crafting. The idea is also "hoarded", coming from a magazine cover in Winter 2009.

Victoria told us she'd much rather collect pretty paper than use it, but made an exception for us this week with her Japanese linen paper base and handmade paper pinwheel.

Stephanie pulled out her sewing machine and old thickers for this layout, also using papers she couldn't resist buying last Christmas!

And Melissa, our winner from our Patriotic Challenge created this Palm Trees and Pineapple layout for us using pictures she hasn't had the chance to scrap since March 2008!! Thanks Melissa!

We can't wait to see what you create! Now go Use It!!

Challenge #35: Emboss It!

Hello Users!

We are excited to have you back for another challenge!  This time, please make a project that has some form of embossing on it!  Heat, paper, stylus, whatever!

***REMEMBER: All of our challenges call for you to use your hoarded supplies! A challenge requirement is to tell us in your post what you used!***

Please link your creation using Inlinkz by Friday July 20th. No blog? No problem! Just use keyword USE035 when uploading to an online gallery and leave us a direct link so we can find your creation. (Linking tips are at the bottom of the post!)

Please make sure to mention you are playing along with a Use It Tuesday challenge (a link is great too!) so we know you are participating.

As always, one lucky participant will be randomly chosen to be a featured guest designer in an upcoming challenge!

Here is a little inspiration to get you started:

Caroli told me the title means 'little friend'...which is exactly how I think of my hoarded supplies!  So glad she used her left overs from her Echo Park paper to make this fun layout!  Her embossing is not just on the title...she embossed those buttons, too.  They used to be clear!  Genius!

Cathy had a seed planted with our challenge!  All the background flowers are heat embossed, she also embossed the card with an old folder and...she made that flower with some kraft paper!  Simply stunning!

Danielle turned up the heat (gun, that is!) to make this sentimental layout!  The chevrons and word 'forever' are all done in white embossing powder.  She dressed it up with hoarded buttons, scrappers floss, brads, eyelets, and flowers from her Sassafras stash.  Isn't this sweet?!

Haven used her hoarded ribbon, cardstock, and alphabet letters to make this card.  Fess up, users...how many of you have hoarded letter stickers?!  Haven also used her Diamond Plate embossing folder to not only emboss the paper, but the foil that is over it!  Awesomeness!

Heather doubled up on her card as well, so you surely can't say she 'moosed' up the challenge!  The embossing folder had never been used (still had the plastic on it!) and she bought that colored embossing powder as a 'must have' item ages ago.  Glad it found some use and she did not feel that buying it was a moose-take!

Marjolaine got this scrapbook kit back in 2004!  Who can beat that?!  She was able to pair it with left over pieces of kits she opened 3 years ago.  Oh Baby!  Way to use it up on such a sweet double page layout!

Stephanie used 'faux' embossing by punching out circles to make this stunner, but there is nothing faux-pas about using her stash of papers, an old celebrate tag, and buttons!

Tammy pulled out a dusty ol' cuttlebug embossing folder (I bet you have the EXACT some one in your drawer, too...don't you?!) to make this hippo-licious card!  She paired it with an image and sentiment received in a swap ages ago, as well as some old bling, cardstock and ribbon.  Hip-Hip-Horray for using that stash!

Tess made this gorgeous card using everything from her stash but the ribbon!  The papers are all 2-3 years old and the arrow is 3 years old!  She loves it so much she just might hoard it! HA!  That would be a good idea for a new challenge blog!  :)

Victoria pulled out her starter pack of Sizzix embossing plates to make this card bloom with awesomeness!  She also pulled out her Stampin Up flower punch (garage sale find!) and her stack of hoarded Costco paper to complete the look!

And we are thrilled to have Holly designing for us this week!  She won Challenge #33 and came up with a real winner for this week, too!  Look at this darling shadow box she made from her hoarded paper!  She embossed the leaves and the font.  Holly, this is amazing!  Thank you so much for designing for us!

We can't wait to see what you create! Now go Use It!!

We had so much fun looking at everyone's Patriotic projects!  What fun and I loved how everyone interpreted the challenge!

Our winner as chosen by Inlinkz is Melissa with this popping layout:

She entered A LOT so we can only assume she has craft supply "issues"!  LOL  So glad we could inspire you to use your stash, Melissa!

As always our winner will be asked to join us as a Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge! She also gets to put this awesome button on her blog!

Don't forget to grab your badge, ladies and congratulations!!

Now, onto our Announcement!  We are pleased to welcome the following ladies into our Use It Tuesday Family!  Please help us welcome our 3rd Design Team:

Heather, who has been with us since the beginning, is stepping up to be our Design Team Coordinator!

Hi, I'm Heather. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with my husband, our young daughter and two always entertaining cats. I focus on card-making, which I've been into since 2008, but, occasionally I'll spread my crafty wings and dabble in other things, such as 3D projects, digital scrapbooking, or sewing. This is my third term at Use It Tuesday and while Use It Tuesday has helped me greatly in encouraging me to use my stash, my real talent seems to be that I can buy stuff faster than I use it!! <blush> This term, I'm trying REALLY HARD to concentrate on using what's in my craft room, rather than buying more! My other challenge this term is finding time to get into my craft room with a new baby in the house. Wish me luck!

My name is Carolina, I'm a 32 years old Chilean girl in love with paper crafts. I live in Santiago, with my fiancĂ© and our 3 year old little girl named Isidora. I work full time as translator and foreign trade assistant in a multinational company.  I started scrapbooking in 2004, I took a break on 2007 and started over again on 2010, but this time with way more energy and resources that in my beginnings. I would define my style as clean, simple, colorful and playful. I work mainly on layouts, but lately I am so interested in altering stuff and decorating my home with paper. I love big titles, dimension, hand stitching and recently I've discovered misting, which is my new obsession. I'm so excited to be part of Use it Tuesday, I have loads of unused supplies waiting for me to decide to use them, this is the right place to be :)

Cathy:

My name is Cathy and I live in New Brunswick, Canada. I am a married mom to a two-and-a-half year old son who definitely keeps my husband and I on our toes! As I also work outside of the home full time I don't have a lot of spare time, but I try to use what I have wisely, which means I am crafting almost every spare moment! I love making cards as it is a fun creative outlet, and it is small enough that I don't feel overwhelmed by the messes I get myself into. I've been stamping and papercrafting for about four years, and I definitely go through my 'hoarding' phases. Lately I've been collecting 6x6 pads, before that it was spray mists and paints, before that stamps, and before that it was various colours of card stock (I still have some unopened packages dating back several years). I could go on and on but you get the idea. For this reason I love the Use it Tuesday philosophy and I can't wait to get crafting with all of you! :)

My name is Danielle, born in 1981 so you do the math :-) I live in The Hague, which is a big city near the beach in The Netherlands. I have been collecting scrap supplies since 2004....oh and sometimes I actually do scrapbooking ;-) This place is perfect for me to finally use all of my collectables and to try some older techniques again. Mostly I make layouts, but mini albums are also a fabourite of mine. I don't have kids of my own, so I 'steal' lots of photo's of my niece and nephew to scrap. Besides photo's of them I scrap a lot about my travels. I'm really looking forward to this term and to get to know a lot of new people over here!

 Haven:

Hello, my name is Haven, I live in Eugene, Oregon and all I do is laundry.  Well at least it feels that way with 4 kids under the age of 13.  Most of the time they are making messes faster than I can clean them, especially, the youngest. I swear if my son was born first he’d be an only child.  In the rest of my free time I work very part time as a water exercise instructor, volunteer as a Girl Scouts leader/ camp registrar/ service unit treasure and scrap.    I started scrapbooking in 1999 when my first daughter was born and I have been addicted ever since.  My style tends to be all over the place, but lately I’m in love with sketches.  In my crazy busy day it’s nice to have a given start point, so I can get something done.    I joined the blogging community a little over a year ago and have been and currently am on a few design teams. I love seeing what my fellow DT has going on and find that they inspire me to try new things.

Marjolaine:

My name is Marjolaine. I live in Ottawa, Canada with my husband of 15 years and my four children. I have been scrapbooking since 1997 and due to the fact that I was a consultant for a scrapbooking company for 6 years followed by owning my own store for the last three I HAVE MOUNTAINS OF HOARDED SUPPLIES!!! I am passionate about using my stash so  Use It Tuesday is perfect for me! I don't really have a style. I love to try new things and use products in unconventional ways. My favourite things to do are layouts, mini-albums, mixed-media and altered art...not always in that order!  I enjoy designing and teaching and it is my desire to encourage others to make time for what they love while not comparing themselves with others.

Stephanie:

My name is Stephanie U., and I live in New Mexico. I am a mom to three kids - a 4.5 year old girl, a 2.5 year old boy, and an almost 1 yo girl. My days a filled with keeping them happy and safe, teaching online classes for our local community college, trying to keep the house presentable, and crafting! I have always liked to craft, but I really got into scrapbooking two years ago. Before then, my "stash" could fit in roughly a 1ft by 1ft by 1ft container - including most of my tools. Now, just my 12x12 papers take up more than that! So, I am here to use my stash and help others find creative ways to stop hoarding and CREATE!

My name is Tess and I am from beautiful British Columbia Canada! I am the mom of one, who is 17 and graduates high school next year.....and married to my best friend! I also have two spoiled rotten fur babies :) I have been gettin my craft on now for about 6 years and I am addicted to all things papercraft. I love stamps. I am a self proclaimed paper hoarder. And anything that sparkles distracts me pretty easily! My fave scrap subjects are my son, my nieces, my nephews and my cats!

Greetings from the Great White North! My name is Tammy and although originally from Ontario Canada, I have made my home in Calgary Alberta Canada for several years. I am a married WAHM to a lovely three year old boy named Riley and we also have two pound puppies, a pug named Pickles and a bijon named Tonka. I was so excited to find that I was going to be a part of the Use it Tuesday design team. I have so much stash you wouldn't believe. When my scrappy friends need things, they come to me and I still don't know anything is gone :)

I love 6xt6 paper pads and using my stamps (both ink and digital) as well as ribbon..oh do I have a soft spot for ribbon. I have been crafting for several years and started with scrapbooking but I love making cards. I also enjoy tags and have just started to get into mini-albums as well. Anything that will help me use up my stash that much quicker. I don't have any particular style but tend to be inspired by the theme or the product that I am using. I love checking out other blogs so I will definitely be looking forward to checking out all those that play with us each week and being inspired and hopefully inspiring you as well.

Victoria:

My name is Victoria and I live in Toronto, Canada. I am a mother to a 2-year-old daughter and wife to a super sweet guy. Growing up, I’ve always enjoyed visual arts and crafting. Last year, I started buying a lot of crafting supplies but I’ve only recently started using them. In the last few months, I got more involved with card-making after starting my own blog and discovering a whole world of talented crafters out there in the blog world. Since I am fairly new to card making, I look forward to trying out new techniques and being inspired by all the creative crafters out there. I love looking at (and possibly buying) craft supplies so I’m hoping I can use up some of these before I get a reason to buy more. Other than hoarding craft supplies, I also love to collect a lot of disposable/recyclable items, which I hope to eventually integrate into my cards.  When I am not crafting, I spend most of my time taking care of my daughter who amazes me everyday and working part time as a teacher at a tutor centre.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on July10th for another challenge!
